Maker of cardio machines and equipment, Trotter Inc. has been in business since the early 1970's. Approximately 12 years ago, they merged with the company Cybex which is responsible for all aspects of their treadmill manufacturing. It is unfortunate, but the merger, there are no longer treadmills made under the Trotter banner, but because of their quality, there are many Trotter machines still floating around. Trotter is known for making very high quality machines, and their price tags showed it. This high cost meant that they may be out of reach for an average treadmill user, but if you are looking for a long-lasting durable machine, Trotter treadmills could be for you. Essentially, these treadmills are of commercial quality, but made for home use.

The Trotter Elite was made to be a lighter version of their typical commercial machine. It was a very expensive machine for its time, and came with a lot of features that would be considered fairly basic on most treadmills today. It came with a 3.0 hp motor which allowed inclines up to 15% as well as speeds of 12.4 mph. It was pre-programmed with 7 workout variations as well as 2 custom workouts. It had a heart rate monitor complete with a chest strap that was wireless, which is beneficial for those that don't like to feel confined when they run. As far as warranty was concerned, it came with a 5 year motor warranty as well as a 10 year frame warranty, which is short compared with many of today's lifetime warranty offers.

If you are looking for a brand new Trotter treadmill, you will have to look at Cybex models, of which there are currently four.

The top model, is the 750T, and there are many great features that this model offers. It has a running deck that you can flip or rotate, so it varies wear patterns ensuring longer life. Its powerful motor allows speeds of up to 15.6 mph which is perfect for the die-hard runner. It also has a very large running surface with is great for those that like space when they work out.
